Ministries

Royersford Baptist Church supports the following missionaries through the American Baptist Church's Mission Partnership Program. Each missionary has a group of people dedicated to raising funds, offering prayer support and communicating the stories of hope and need that are inherent in each mission area.

The Graduates - A Program for Seniors at Royersford Baptist Church

The idea of forming a Senior Citizens group originated from Doris Kramer in 1993. No utopian aspirations inspired the seniors to go along with Doris. Just a desire to come together as a group, participate in educational experiences, visit points of interest, becoming more aware of the cultural richness of our community, enjoy a day a month together, and becoming an additional expression of the Church ministry.

Doris coordinated the first get-together, enjoying a Potluck lunch at RBC on May 1, 1993. Following with another meeting we finally got organized with a lunch at the Ortiz' home on September 7. Over a dozen interested seniors gathered, baptizing the group as The Graduates (Doris' idea).  Doris served as coordinator for some time, succeeded by Chuck Forsberg later on.  We decided not to require membership dues, but solicit a contribution to cover fuel cost whenever the Church van was used. Extra money collected serves to cover mailings.

A year of activities was planned at our organizing gathering. The coordinator had the responsibility of arranging the events, communication, transportation, and securing a place to have a meal. This arrangement persisted for several years until the responsibility became too heavy for only one person. The last coordinator who served was Chuck Forsberg. Not finding a replacement, at our annual planning meeting held in August, Jose L. Ortiz volunteered to write the monthly letter of invitation, if each person or couple assumed responsibility for at least one event per year. Haydée Ortiz also volunteered to lead the "business meeting" and share notes. Irene Whitenight continued to maintain a record of the paper work produced. This arrangement distributes our tasks fairly well, making all of us participants and responsible for the group functioning.

The adjacent communities and even other states provide sufficient museums and fine attractions to keep us interested and busy.  I do point out that we haven't seemed them all. We have visited the same place twice since there are membership changes, and the visited places change also. In addition, the tour guides are always different individuals with different expertise, interpreting their own history differently. After being divided in two groups and coming together again, it's interesting to "compare notes", and have seniors saying, "My tour guide didn't share that".

Our membership is kind of fluid, and includes seniors who are not RBC members. So we invite all those who'd like to enjoy a day of education / enjoyment / fellowship to join us. Or participate on any activity you would like to experience with us.

For a better idea of what we do, we share the current year program of activities that started on September 2009, finishing on August 2010:

What to Expect?

Worship: Worshipping God is at the center of all we do as a church family. When you arrive at Royersford Baptist Church for a worship service, you'll find a warm and friendly welcome, with greeters ready to help you find your way.

Each of our worship experiences lasts about 60 minutes. The dress is casual, although occasionally you may see a suit or a tie added into the mix. At the early service, a robed choir provides wonderful leadership for our music, with classical and contemporary anthems. At 11 am worship, a very gifted Praise Team provides vocal and instrumental encouragement for the community of faith as we sing and praise God together. Preaching at both services is centered in scripture and aimed at helping us live our everyday lives for Jesus Christ.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month, when services run a bit longer.

What is there for kids?

We have ministries for all ages of children and youth. In addition to child care for all services, elementary age children who attend worship are invited to participate in Popcorn Church during the sermon time of the service. And between worship services, the TNT Zone for children preschool through elementary age provides each age group with Christian education experiences designed to help them discover and claim God's love.

STILL THINKING ABOUT WHETHER TO USE ONLINE GIVING?

Consider these reasons to use this tool for God's glory,,,

• You can follow the Spirit's promptings promptly.  One time gifts online allow you to respond to a special need as soon as you have clarity from God that you are supposed to contribute to that cause.

• Deciding on regularly scheduled monthly giving is taking a step of faith  By signing up to give to RBC Ministries monthly, you are deciding in advance to faithfully give. Your gifts are based on loving trust in God, not on fluctuating human circumstances.

• You simplify your life  Using automatic online giving, you won´t need to remember if you've already given this month or if you need to send your tithe or offering in by mail, when you´re away.

• You'll be helping the church  Knowing in advance when gifts are coming in to the ministries allows us to plan more effectively for meeting regular needs.

• You can focus on God during the offering time in worship During the worship service you will not need to interrupt your focus on God to stop and count money, write a check, or complete a tithe/offering envelope. You can focus on offering yourself to the Lord.

• If credit card debt is something you are struggling with, please do not use the credit card option for online giving!  We do not want you to go further in to debt to support these ministries.

"May God bless you for your generosity, obedience, and support of the work we are doing together to make sure everyone we know knows the good news of Jesus Christ."
